Terms of Service

Last updated: 5 July 2026

Acceptance of Terms

By accessing and using MateCode, you accept and agree to be bound by these Terms. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or share a referral code.

Platform Purpose and Acceptable Use

MateCode is designed to help Australians share and discover legitimate referral codes. By using our platform, you agree to:

  • Only submit genuine, working referral codes
  • Provide accurate descriptions of referral benefits
  • Respect intellectual property rights
  • Not engage in spam or misleading activities
  • Comply with all applicable Australian laws

Accounts and Registration

Some features โ€” including sharing referral codes and subscribing to Pro โ€” require an account. You can sign in with Google or a one-time email sign-in link. When you create an account we store your email address, display name and profile photo (as provided by your sign-in provider) and your marketing-email preference. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate information and keep your account secure
  • Be responsible for all activity that occurs under your account
  • Notify us of any unauthorised use at support@matecode.com.au

You may close your account at any time by emailing support@matecode.com.au. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms. Closing your account does not automatically remove referral codes you have already shared (see Intellectual Property and Content License).

Pro Subscription, Billing, Cancellation & Refunds

Plan and price. MateCode Pro is an optional paid membership charged at A$50 per year (inclusive of GST). Prices are shown in Australian dollars.

Billing and automatic renewal. Payments are processed by our payment provider, Stripe. Your subscription renews automatically each year at the then-current price unless you cancel before the renewal date. By subscribing, you authorise us (via Stripe) to charge your payment method on each renewal. We never store your full card details โ€” they are handled directly by Stripe.

Cancellation. You can cancel at any time from your account (Manage Subscription / the Stripe billing portal). Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current paid period โ€” you keep Pro access until then and will not be charged again.

Refunds. Except where required by the Australian Consumer Law, subscription fees are non-refundable and we do not provide pro-rata refunds for the unused portion of a billing period. Nothing in this section limits any rights or remedies you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded, including the consumer guarantees.

What happens when Pro ends. When your subscription ends (by cancellation or after a failed payment), your account returns to the free plan. If you have more than the free-plan limit of three active codes, we keep three of your codes chosen at random (you do not choose which), set them to expire 60 days later, and remove the rest. Featured placement and other Pro benefits are removed. This matches the policy shown on our Pricing page.

Failed payments. If a renewal payment fails and cannot be recovered, your subscription will be cancelled and your account will return to the free plan as described above.

Price changes. We may change the subscription price from time to time. Any change applies only to renewals after we notify you and will not affect a period you have already paid for.

Content Standards and Moderation

All user-submitted content is subject to our moderation process. We reserve the right to:

  • Review and approve all submissions before publication
  • Remove content that violates our community guidelines
  • Suspend accounts for repeated violations
  • Update our content policies as needed

User Responsibilities

By submitting referral codes or other content to MateCode, you:

  • Accept that we may remove your content at any time for any reason

No Verification or Endorsement

MateCode does NOT verify, validate, endorse, or guarantee:

  • The accuracy, validity, or functionality of any referral code
  • That codes will provide the stated benefits or rewards
  • That users have authorization to share the codes they submit
  • The legitimacy, safety, or reliability of any company or service mentioned
  • That companies will honor their referral programs or terms
  • The identity or trustworthiness of users submitting codes

ALL content is user-generated and provided "AS-IS" without any warranty whatsoever. You use referral codes entirely at your own risk.

User Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless MateCode, its owners, operators, employees, affiliates, licensors, and service providers from and against any and all claims, damages, obligations, losses, liabilities, costs, debts, and expenses (including but not limited to attorney's fees) arising from:

  • Your use or misuse of the Platform
  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of any third-party rights, including intellectual property rights
  • Any content you submit to the Platform
  • Your use of any referral code found on the Platform
  • Any disputes with other users or third-party companies

Intellectual Property and Content License

When you submit content to MateCode, you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive, transferable license to:

  • Use, reproduce, display, and distribute your content on the Platform
  • Modify, adapt, or create derivative works from your content
  • Sublicense these rights to third parties (e.g., service providers, partners)
  • Use your content for promotional or marketing purposes

You retain ownership of your content but acknowledge that once submitted, we are not obligated to remove it even if you close your account, except where required by law or our Copyright & Takedown Policy.

Editorial Independence

MateCode maintains editorial independence in our content creation and curation. Our educational guides and reviews are created by our editorial team based on research and analysis, not influenced by referral partnerships.

Prohibited Uses

You may not use MateCode:

  • For any unlawful purpose or to solicit others to unlawful acts
  • To violate any international, federal, provincial, or state regulations, rules, laws, or local ordinances
  • To infringe upon or violate our intellectual property rights or the intellectual property rights of others
  • To harass, abuse, insult, harm, defame, slander, disparage, intimidate, or discriminate
  • To submit false or misleading information
  • To upload viruses or any other type of malicious code
  • To circumvent or manipulate our moderation systems

Disclaimer of Warranties

THE PLATFORM AND ALL CONTENT ARE PROVIDED ON AN "AS-IS" AND "AS-AVAILABLE" BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. To the fullest extent permitted by law, MateCode EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING:

  • Warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement
  • That the Platform will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free
  • That content is accurate, complete, reliable, current, or appropriate for your needs
  • That referral codes will work or provide any benefits
  • That third-party companies will honor referral programs
  • That user-submitted content is authorized, legal, or non-infringing

YOU ASSUME ALL RISK FOR ANY DAMAGE THAT MAY RESULT FROM YOUR USE OF THE PLATFORM OR REFERRAL CODES FOUND ON IT.

Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY AUSTRALIAN LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL MATECODE, ITS OWNERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, PARTNERS, SUPPLIERS, OR AFFILIATES BE LIABLE FOR:

  • Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
  • Loss of profits, revenue, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses
  • Damages resulting from unauthorized access to or use of the Platform
  • Damages from referral codes that don't work or fail to provide benefits
  • Damages from third-party actions, including companies refusing to honor codes
  • Damages from account suspensions or bans by third-party services
  • Any claim related to user-generated content

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS SHALL NOT EXCEED AUD $100 OR THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE PAST 12 MONTHS (WHICHEVER IS GREATER).

Dispute Resolution

If you have a concern or dispute, please contact us first at support@matecode.com.au so we can try to resolve it informally โ€” most issues are sorted out quickly this way. If we cannot resolve it within 30 days, either party may pursue the matter through mediation or the courts.

Nothing in these Terms prevents you from exercising any right you have under the Australian Consumer Law, or from lodging a complaint with a relevant regulator (such as the ACCC or a state or territory consumer-protection agency).

Referral Code Accuracy

Every submission is manually reviewed before publication, but we cannot guarantee that any code will work. Users are responsible for:

  • Checking terms and conditions before using codes
  • Reporting expired or non-working codes
  • Understanding that referral benefits may vary
  • Complying with third-party platform terms when using codes

Content Removal and Takedown Requests

We may remove content that violates our guidelines at our sole discretion. Companies or individuals who believe content infringes their intellectual property or violates their rights must submit a formal takedown request via email to support@matecode.com.au. See our Copyright & Takedown Policy for the complete process. We will review valid takedown requests within 2-3 business days. IMPORTANT: If removed content is re-uploaded by any user, you must submit a NEW takedown request each time. We cannot guarantee prevention of re-uploads by other users.

Severability and Survival

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary so that these Terms shall otherwise remain in full force and effect. Sections relating to indemnification, limitation of liability, disclaimers, and dispute resolution shall survive termination of these Terms.

Australian Consumer Law Compliance

MateCode operates in accordance with Australian Consumer Law. We are committed to fair trading practices and protecting consumer rights. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, condition, warranty, right or remedy which you may have under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 or any similar legislation and which cannot be lawfully excluded, restricted or modified.

Modifications

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make a material change โ€” for example to subscription pricing, billing or refunds โ€” we will take reasonable steps to notify you in advance (such as by email or a notice on the site) before it takes effect. Your continued use of MateCode after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. You submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales.

Community Standards

MateCode is built on community trust. We expect all users to contribute positively to our platform by sharing legitimate codes, providing helpful feedback, and maintaining respectful interactions with other community members.

Educational Mission

Beyond code sharing, MateCode is committed to educating Australians about referral programs, consumer rights, and safe online practices. Our editorial content aims to help users make informed decisions and avoid scams.
