Copyright & Takedown Policy

Last updated: 8 July 2026

MateCode respects intellectual-property rights. If you believe content on our platform infringes your copyright, trade mark or other rights, follow the process below. Submitting a false or misleading notice may expose you to liability under Australian law.

Overview

MateCode is an online platform where users share referral codes. We host user-generated content — we don't create or own it, and we don't check it for third-party intellectual-property rights before it's shared. We take infringement seriously and will act on valid claims in accordance with the Copyright Act 1968 (Cth) and other applicable Australian law. Overseas rights holders, including those who would ordinarily rely on the US DMCA, can use the same process set out below.

What content can be reported

You may submit a takedown notice if content on MateCode:

  • Infringes your copyright (e.g. unauthorised use of copyrighted text, images or logos)
  • Infringes your trade mark (e.g. unauthorised use of a brand name or mark)
  • Contains your proprietary referral codes shared without authorisation
  • Discloses your confidential information or trade secrets
  • Misrepresents an affiliation with your company or brand

How to submit a takedown request

Email us

support@matecode.com.au

Subject line: “Copyright Takedown Request”

We aim to respond within 2–3 business days. Complex matters may take longer.

What to include

So we can act on your request, please include all of the following:

1. Your contact details

  • Full legal name (individual or company)
  • Postal address
  • Email address
  • Phone number

2. The work you own

  • A description of the copyrighted work or other IP
  • Evidence of ownership (registration, certificate, or other proof)
  • A link to the original authorised version, if any

3. The infringing material

  • The exact URL(s) on MateCode
  • A description of what should be removed
  • A screenshot or other evidence (recommended)

4. A good-faith statement

“I have a good-faith belief that the use of the material described is not authorised by the rights holder, its agent, or the law.”

5. A statement of accuracy

“The information in this notice is true and correct to the best of my knowledge, and I am the owner of the rights described (or authorised to act on the owner's behalf).”

6. Your signature

A physical signature (scanned) or an electronic signature (your typed full name).

Incomplete requests may be delayed — we'll let you know what's missing so you can resend.

How we handle your request

  1. We receive and review your request by email.
  2. We assess the claim and confirm ownership.
  3. If valid, we remove the content — usually within 2–3 business days — and confirm by email.
  4. We notify the user who posted the content, where they're identifiable.

What we can and can't do

We will:

  • Remove content promptly on a valid request
  • Take reasonable steps to stop the same user re-posting it
  • Keep records of removed content and repeat infringers
  • Respond to every properly submitted request

We can't guarantee:

  • That other users won't re-upload the same or similar content
  • Proactive monitoring or filtering for infringing content
  • Pursuing legal action against the user who posted it
  • Compensation for any loss caused by the infringement

Re-uploads & repeat infringement

MateCode hosts user-generated content, so we can't prevent the wider community re-posting something we've removed. If the same or similar content reappears:

  • Please submit a fresh takedown request each time, referencing the earlier one to speed things up.
  • We'll remove it again, but we don't automatically monitor or filter for previously removed content.
  • Identified repeat infringers may have their accounts suspended or terminated.

If you think content was removed by mistake

If you posted content that was removed and you believe that was a mistake, email us a counter-notice at support@matecode.com.au including:

  • Your contact details and signature
  • Identification of the removed content
  • A statement that you believe it was removed in error, and that the information is true and correct
  • Your consent to the jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales, Australia

We'll pass your counter-notice to the original complainant. If they don't pursue the matter within a reasonable period (usually 10–14 business days), we may restore the content.

False or misleading notices

Submitting a false or misleading takedown notice can have serious consequences. It may expose you to:

  • Liability under Australian law, including for misleading conduct or defamation
  • Liability for the resulting loss and legal costs
  • Being blocked from submitting future requests to MateCode

Limitation of liability

MateCode acts as an intermediary hosting user-generated content. By submitting a takedown request you acknowledge that, to the extent permitted by law:

  • We're not liable for user-posted infringing content
  • We don't proactively monitor or detect infringements
  • Removing content doesn't prevent re-uploads by other users
  • We're not liable for any loss you suffered from the original infringement
  • Enforcement against individual infringers is your responsibility

Nothing in this policy limits any rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law or other laws that can't lawfully be excluded.
