Our Story
MateCode started from a simple frustration that every Australian knows: why is it so hard to find a working referral code before you sign up to a new service? We were constantly texting codes to friends, digging through Reddit threads, and still ending up on the wrong end of a deal that could have saved us $20 or $30.
So we built MateCode — a platform where Australians can easily share and discover verified referral codes for everything from ride-sharing and food delivery to banking and streaming. It's built for Australians, focused on Australian services, and maintained by a team that actually uses these products every day.
The problem we solve is real: referral programs are one of the most underused money-saving tools available to Australians. Banks offer up to $100 to new customers. Food delivery apps give $10–$30 off a first order. Ride-sharing services credit new riders for multiple trips. Most Australians simply don't know these codes exist, or they can't find a working one when they need it. MateCode fixes that.
How We Verify Every Code
This is the core of what makes MateCode different. We don't publish codes automatically.
Community Submission
Anyone can submit a referral code through our submission form. We collect the code, company name, description, estimated value, expiry date, and the submitter's username. All submissions go into a pending queue — nothing is published automatically.
Manual Review
Our moderation team manually reviews every submission before it goes live. We check that the company is legitimate, the code format looks correct for that service, the description is accurate and not misleading, and there are no signs of spam or affiliate fraud. We typically review submissions within 24–48 hours.
What Gets Rejected
We reject codes that:
- • Are for unverifiable or suspicious services
- • Contain misleading value claims (e.g. "$500 off" for a code that gives $5 off)
- • Come from services that target vulnerable people (gambling, payday loans)
- • Are duplicates of already-listed codes
- • Appear to be generated or fabricated rather than real referral codes
- • Come from adult content, illegal, or harmful businesses
Published with Verification Date
Approved codes go live with the date they were verified. The community can report codes that have stopped working, and we re-review and remove them if confirmed invalid. This keeps the database accurate and useful.
Community Reporting
Every code listing has a "Report" button. When the community reports a code as expired or invalid, it goes back into review. Codes with multiple reports are deprioritised immediately and removed if confirmed invalid.

Transparency
No hidden catches, no paid placements pretending to be community codes. If a code is paid-for promotion, it's labelled as such. We don't take money from brands to rank their codes higher — listing order is based on recency and usage.
Safety First
We take consumer protection seriously. All codes go through manual review. We operate in accordance with Australian Consumer Law and the Australian Privacy Act 1988. Our content policy explicitly prohibits misleading or harmful listings.
Free to Use
Browsing and using codes is always free. Sharing codes is free for the first 30 days. We're supported by non-intrusive advertising — ads that fund the platform without compromising the experience or the integrity of code listings.
